Beads up a Nose

The day before Parker's birthday...
Addie was napping, the house was clean, we were waiting for the pest control guy...
The kids wanted to make bracelets with Staucie's beads...
I got up for a minute to go to the kitchen.
Bensen followed me a minute later and said, "Ow. Hurt," while pointing to his nose.
I knew right then that he had stuck beads up there...

I could NOT get them out. I could see them but couldn't get a hold of them without feeling like I was pushing them up more. Plus, he was screaming at me and pushing my hands away. I called Daniel all upset. I eventually called the doctor office to take him in. I had to wake up Addie and cancel my long awaited bug guy (ants, ants, ants). Daniel called our neighbor so I could leave the older two. Parker was crying with Bensen. He thought Bensen was going to die.

The doctor was able to dig them out. He was left with two bloody nostrils, two snotty beads, and a sucker. The nurse, the doctor, and I had to hold him down. He screamed. But once he got his sucker and the doctor left, he skipped out of there.
Then when we got home (at 5:00pm), I started dinner while the kids turned on music to dance. Then Bensen comes in and says, "Mommy, look." Another bead was sliding out of his nose. This one was smaller and a clear red color. I was shocked. The doctor looked in both nostrils after digging out the other 2 and then checked his ears to make sure there was nothing else in there. He probably didn't notice the third bead since it was the same color as bloody snot.

Stinker. No more beads have emerged so far... These kinds of things really make you feel like a bad mom though. The nurse said, "Don't worry, he's not the first one TODAY." Which did make me feel a little better.

Luckily I haven't had that experience YET. I'm starting to agree with you about Texas. Even with a bug guy, we have ants and it's driving me crazy. The other day I told Matt, why do we live here again? HOT, HOT weather where you don't even want to go outside, and the bugs are annoying and creepy! Have you heard about (or seen) the infestation of ants at the church? Gross. They are all over our Primary stuff, and I actually had a nightmare Sunday night that ants were crawling all over me in bed. Let's just say for our next move, we're keeping our options open :o)
